Mulching work began Monday morning at the Love’s Lookout rest stop north of Jacksonville to clear space in front of the overlook and make for a cleaner view with less unsightly shrubs and plants. The work comes just in time for the Nov. 10 fifth anniversary party. (more…)
AUSTIN– State Representative Chuck Hopson (D-Jacksonville) is encouraging you to get out and vote for Constitutional Amendment 11. The proposed amendment would amend Section 17, Article I, Texas Constitution, to restrict the taking, damaging, or destroying of a person’s property for public use to circumstances in which the taking, damage, or destruction is necessary for the ownership, use, and enjoyment of the property by the State of Texas, a political subdivision of the state, the public at large, or an entity granted the power of eminent domain, or for the elimination of urban blight on a particular parcel of property. State Rep. Chuck Hopson (D-Jacksonville) and State Sen. Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville) have announced the launch of the 2009-10 High School Aerospace Scholars (HAS) program. HAS will enable selected Texas students to explore and become a part of NASA’s plan for space exploration to send humans back to the moon, on to Mars and beyond. (more…)
