AUSTIN - In a session that began on Sunday and ended early Monday morning, fifty-six House members, both Democrats and Republicans, left the chamber the 80th Legislative Session making the final day more important than usual.
Representative Hopson stayed on the House floor and did not participate in the walk out. When asked why he remained on the floor, the Representative replied, “I thought we still had business to conduct. I guess there were others that didn’t think so.”
One bill that Hopson wanted to make sure was heard, that now may be a casualty of the mutiny, was a state park funding bill that would have allowed for park facilities improvements, equipment updates and the modernizing of park procedures.
More to follow.
