JACKSONVILLE - On Saturday evening, Representative Chuck Hopson joined friends and constituents at the closing banquet for the North Texas Friends of NRA State Convention. Rep. Hopson was honored to give the invocation before the conventioneers settled in for the evening program.
During the evenings festivities, the North Texas organization awarded $165,000 to area Boy Scout, 4H Clubs and Collage shooting clubs for aiding in the promotion of firearm safety for school children. In addition to the grant awards, the newly formed Rusk chapter of the North Texas Friends of NRA was acknowledged for exceptional performance promoting the firearm safety program. Longview and Jasper were also recognized for their work as well.
“I am a proud member of the NRA and avid outdoorsman,” said Rep. Hopson. “It’s an honor to be asked to give the invocation at this years convention.”
He added, “I am also thrilled to hear that a group from my district is being recognized for their outstanding work. Great job folks!”
Friends of NRA is a fundraising organization that funds local, state and national shooting programs. Texas continues to be a leader in firearm safety. Organizations such as the NRA continue to promote education far beyond safety, including a healthy respect for firearms and their history in Texas as well as the United States.
